Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 30, 2026
This policy explains what information the CookCherry mobile app (“CookCherry”, “the app”) and this website handle, why, and your choices. CookCherry is published by Hassan Chouqfi (“we”, “us”). Contact: contact@cookcherry.com.
In short: no account, no sign-up. Your favorites, offline recipes, meal plan and food preferences stay on your phone. The app shows ads from Google AdMob, which may use device identifiers and approximate location to show and measure ads — you control this through the consent and tracking choices in the app.
1. Information stored only on your device
Your favorite recipes, recipes saved offline (PDF), your meal plan, and your preferences (calorie goal, meals per day, eating style, ingredients to avoid) are stored locally on your device. We do not receive or store them on our servers. Deleting the app deletes this information.
2. Information we collect
- Email address (optional). Only if you choose to receive a recipe by email. We use it to send that email. We add you to our recipe newsletter only if you tick the separate, optional box. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link.
- Messages you send us (for example support requests or ad reports) and your email address, to answer you.
We do not ask for your name, and we do not collect health or medical information.
3. Advertising (Google AdMob)
CookCherry is free and supported by ads served by Google AdMob. To show, limit, measure and protect ads, Google’s Mobile Ads SDK may collect:
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Device identifiers (Advertising ID on Android, IDFA on iPhone if you allow tracking) | Advertising, analytics, fraud prevention |
| Approximate location (derived from IP address) | Advertising, fraud prevention |
| Ad interactions (e.g. ad views and taps) | Advertising, analytics |
| Diagnostics (e.g. performance and crash data of the ads SDK) | Analytics, fraud prevention |
Learn how Google uses information: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
We never share your food preferences or meal plan with advertisers, and we never link your email address to advertising identifiers.
4. Your choices
- EEA, UK and Switzerland: we ask for your consent with Google’s consent tool before personalized ads. You can change your choice anytime in Settings → Privacy choices.
- iPhone: the app asks for permission to track through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency. CookCherry works the same whether you allow it or not. You can change this in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Android: you can reset or delete your Advertising ID in your device settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads).
- US state privacy rights: residents of California and other US states with privacy laws can opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising through the privacy message shown in the app, or by emailing us. You may also request access to or deletion of your personal information.
5. Retention and deletion
We keep your email address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Support emails are kept as long as needed to help you. To delete your data, see Delete my data or email contact@cookcherry.com. We answer within 30 days.
6. Security
Data sent between the app and our services is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
7. Children
CookCherry is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Third parties
We use Google AdMob for ads and an email service provider to send emails you request. They process data under their own privacy policies and are required to protect it.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. We will change the date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
